Natalie Kwee's works often deal with daily life. As a trained architect, who has worked for the likes of Tadao Ando and Bjarke Ingels Group, she founded PEEPnPRESS, an online service that specialises in bespoke and corporate illustrations. She has collaborated with Clarins, OCBC Bank, SingPost and Monica Vinader.
In the Facade series, Natalie uses the colloquial nature of illustration to explore the illusion of purpose in everyday life and the struggle to bring meaning to our existence. Through the creation of an alternate universe filled with bizarre creatures and fantastical scenarios, the work provides a comfortable distance from which we are invited to question the heavy topic of our reality. Upon closer inspection, the intricacies of this great lie we're all trying to uphold begin to reveal themselves. But do not despair! The hopefulness that arises from self-reflection flows freely out of this world less serious than ours.
